The theme for the living room is curves, which are used in the curved sectional sofa, the upholstered Cherner chair, all the tables, the round ottomans and the lighting fixtures.
To complement the couple’s fine art collection, this design incorporates many sculptural elements in the furnishings, including wrapped Ingo Maurer lights, and artisan created coffee and end tables.
The wood of the furniture is primarily done in a chocolate finish, with bird-eye’s maple on the end tables.
The coffee table is composed of bands of gold, orange and brown-tone woods. All the furniture legs are either tapered wood or simple metal tubular posts.
Against the wall opposite the curved couch, a long, low media credenza contains all the usual media equipment and media, while a flat screen TV hangs above it on the wall.
The colors in this room are rich and warm and the fabrics on couch and chairs are lush. The couch is covered in a butter yellow fabric and the chairs are covered in a soft, yet extremely durable ultrasuede — deep red-orange on the Cherner chairs and chocolate brown on the modern armchair. The silk pillows are covered in shades of deep red-orange and gold silks. Each ottoman is covered in two shades of a soft, supple leather, from a butter yellow to cognac to chocolate.
The draperies are done in a gold dupioni silk, with a lighter gold sheer for the drapery and curtain fabrics. A wool rug in an orange tone with horizontal bands and dots of gold defines the conversation area. With walls painted in shades of amber – a lighter tint for 3 of the walls, and a deeper shade for the front wall with the bow window – the large soaring bronze sculpture really stands out.
