We gained a lot of space in the garage recently by getting rid of a lot of junk we’d been storing there for years. This has led to a desire to better organize the rest of the space. We decided to start with a large shelf running most of the length of the garage where I can store my wood moldings out of harms’ way, as well as various other things that do not need to be accessed frequently.
We decided to build a two-part 2×4 frame to attach to a crossbeam and top it with a 1/2″ plywood shelf. The strength comes from the frame being screwed into studs along the back and side, with an angled support on the short open side. What a difference in the quality of life from just this one improvement!
