The furniture in the client’s living room was old and out of date. She wanted a whole new design with a modern flair, that would seat at least six people, and give her a comfortable and inviting place to entertain guests or curl up and read.
We replaced everything. We chose a clean-lined extremely comfortable sofa, easy chair and ottoman in a pale butter color, and contrasted these with dark chocolate wood round end tables and an oval coffee table, all with plenty of shelves on which to place all her various reading materials.
We picked gorgeous modern oval table lamps and matching floor lamp, and found two additional chairs in a deeper butter colored wicker that can be used either for sitting in the living room, or pulled up to the dining room table for additional dinner guests.
We had posters of some of her favorite impressionist artists framed to complement the blue walls and the buff-colored furniture.
We added shelves between the dining room and living room, and then found a great rug in shades of tan and deep red. Finally, we added pillows and a throw in a deep red to match the rug, and some sheer white curtains over the window.
On the other side of the room, in front of the stairs, she had some old rickety CD shelves, which we replaced with a long white console table on which she can keep her OED, and some ottomans that fit underneath the table when not in use.
