Master Bedroom Flat
The theme for the master bedroom is diamonds, which are echoed throughout the fabrics of the duvet cover, sheer curtains, pillows, and rugs, as well as decorative elements on several pieces of furniture.
This design incorporates the couple’s love of eastern style and natural materials with luxurious fabrics and finishes. The bed is a walnut-finished queen sleigh bed, covered in pale gold Egyptian cotton sheets which are banded with an embroidered diamond pattern, and a silk-and-satin duvet cover with gold threads also embroidered in a diamond pattern.
At the foot of the bed is a hand-crafted wooden bench with woven banana bark and rattan inset panels. Opposite the bed is an
bamboo and pine armoire crafted of bamboo and pine, with a warm brown finish. Small walnut-finished nightstands flank the bed and hold Asian-style lamps in burnished gold done in a burnished gold.
Along the entrance wall is an oriental style dresser with a burgundy lamp.
A wall hanging made of sage green silks, burgundy satin and a gold Peruvian scarf fills the wall of the vaulted ceiling area above the bed.
The colors for this room are taken from the rich burgundy, gold and sage green tones in the rugs. The draperies are made of burgundy satin for the main area and chocolate dupioni silk in the sitting area, both over pale gold sheers flecked with accents of diamond-shaped embroidery.
In the extended sitting area leading out to a deck, two rattan chairs covered in a sage green chenille — accompanied by two
Nippon stools made from a combination of pine, rattan, and water hyacinth weave — are placed between a small carved table and a large glass-door cabinet. A sculptural table lamp and floor lamp, made of woven paper rope, provide lighting for reading.
The French doors leading out to the deck are covered in natural bamboo Roman blinds, and the whole sitting room wall of draperies, curtains and doors are topped by a Sheffield valance done in burgundy and sage green silks.
