Wouldn’t you know, just as soon as I started doing the varnishing on my desk parts, the humidity in Austin went way up.  It’s even been spitting rain periodically.  All of which slows down the curing time of oil-based varnish…a lot!   🙁

And there’s only so much space to lay this stuff out to cure.  And I’m wiping it on, which is probably a thinner application than brushing, so more layers — but also less room for screwing it up, so I haven’t made too many mistakes so far.  🙂

My husband took over the cabinet building project, and is doing a bang-up job!  His first furniture building project.  I think it’s going to be the strongest cabinet ever built.  And he’s patient enough to let me paint the insides before he attaches them, so I won’t have to get a head full of paint fumes later.  🙂

Anyway, that’s what all is going on in this series of pics.  I am hankering to get back in the studio, though.  Maybe tomorrow.  One can hope.
